Your journey begins in Nairobi and takes you through the heart of the Great Rift Valley. Discover the birdlife and rhino sanctuary of Lake Nakuru National Park, explore the scenic beauty of Lake Naivasha and Crescent Island, and immerse yourself in the vast savannahs of the Maasai Mara, home of the Big Five and the Great Migration. Enjoy daily game drives, comfortable lodge stays, and full-board meals — all guided by an experienced safari expert.

Day 01 :

Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park

Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi where you will be met by Travel Waves Safaris representative. Depending on your arrival time, we shall either take you to your hotel in the city or depart for a drive in to the Rift Valley and onto Lake Nakuru national park in the late morning. The park is truly remarkable as it has achieved international fame on animal sanctuary. Both black and white Rhinos are being given a new lease of life in this park. Check in at Lake Nakuru Lodge and have lunch. Go for a game drive in the evening which will include a walk by the shores of the lake to get up-close with the many birds found here. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 02 :

Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha

Have a leisurely breakfast at the lodge enjoying the sights and sounds of the park. Proceed for a further drive at the park and depart in the late morning for the nearby Lake Naivasha. Check in at Lake Naivasha Simba lodge or Sopa lodge. Relax at the lodge after lunch. In the late afternoon, you can visit the Crescent island where you get to walk in the park to see the animals such as Giraffe, zebra and antelopes. Naivasha is also known for the many birds that can be sighted within the lodge grounds. Dinner and overnight.

Day 03 :

Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara National Reserve

An early breakfast followed by your drive to the Masai Mara. Arrive at the park for lunch at Mara Sopa lodge or Mara Simba lodge. Enjoy an afternoon game drive to track elephants, leopards, cheetah, lions, and buffaloes. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 04 :

Full Day in Maasai Mara

Enjoy an early morning breakfast, you will then proceed for a full day game drive carrying picnic lunch with you. On this day you will drive to the Hippo Pool where you can take a break from the drive and see the Hippos bathing as well as Crocodiles. Enjoy a further game drive at the park. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 05 :

Maasai Mara – Nairobi

Have an early morning drive followed by departure for your drive back to Nairobi. Arrival will be in the afternoon. Drop off at the airport.

What is the best time to visit Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and Lake Naivasha?

The best time for this 5-day safari is during the dry seasons from June to October and January to February. July to October offers the spectacular wildebeest migration in Maasai Mara. However, this safari can be enjoyed year-round, with the green season (November to May) offering lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and lower prices.

How far is Maasai Mara from Nairobi?

Maasai Mara National Reserve is approximately 270 kilometers (5-6 hours drive) from Nairobi. Lake Nakuru is about 160 kilometers (3 hours), and Lake Naivasha is roughly 90 kilometers (1.5-2 hours) from Nairobi.

What animals will I see on this 5-day Kenya safari?

You can expect to see the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), along with cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, and various antelope species. Lake Nakuru is famous for flamingos and rhino sanctuary, while Lake Naivasha offers excellent bird watching with over 400 bird species.
